a very good router, never ever had any problems whit it
Shorter Range than 10 year old Netgear Wireless Routers
I've also owned 2 other netgear routers that I've been very happy with and lasted me a long time.
. I bought this router because I've had good luck and after reading a lot of the raving reviews on sites like Amazon, Bestbuy and others.
Overall, the router has a lot of nice features and works except for one glaring issue that sent it back to BestBuy. The range is terrible! It has less range than my old Netgear G router - and I'm not talking about 5Ghz, I'm talking about 2.5Ghz as well!
Very disappointed, cannot suggest this router unless you live in a small apartment or a very open house with no walls - it just does not cut it.
NETGEAR WNDR3700 Best Wireless Router I Have ever Purchased
I purchased this product to replace my burned out router (Linksys WRT54G). The Netgear WNDR3700 has a nice set of features built in. Some of the features that attracted me to this product are:
• Ultra-fast wired — Four Gigabit Ethernet ports deliver ultra-fast wired connections
• Ultra-fast WAN — Gigabit WAN port for easy upgrade of broadband service.
• Fine-tuned antennas — Best wireless speed and range
• Dual band — Ensuring top speeds and the greatest range while minimizing interference
• Faster multimedia streaming — Provides Wireless-N speed for streaming HD videos, simultaneous downloads, and online gaming
in addition to basic Internet applications
• Shared storage — ReadySHARE™ provides fast and easy shared access to an external USB storage device
• Live Parental Controls — Keeps your Internet experience safe
• Jitter-free video and gaming — Automatic Quality of Service (QoS) for reliable Internet connections
• Guest network access — Provides separate security and access restrictions for guests using the network
• Broadband usage meter — Monitors Internet traffic and sends customized reports to help keep costs under control
• Secured connection — Push ‘N’ Connect ensures a quick and secure network connection
The product performs very well, considering I could not centralize the router exactly where I wanted it. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase and considering to go with more Netgear products in the future. I would have bought another Linksys product but they seem to have lost a lot of thier mojo since they were acquired by Cisco.
bad support
its sad that after 60days goes by and you need support you must pay a fee.i'm replacing this with asus rt-n56u
great performance, minor issues
have this router always on for the last 6 months approximately - have a small home server running behind it and provide some services over the internet for my private use.
It's rock solid, offering great performance and quite good range as well.
I have two minor complaints about this routers, which is why wont give 5 for features:
1. The router works as a DNS relay and it's not possible to switch this feature off. I would have to specify IP addresses of DNS servers manually for every computer behind the router, to fix this. And that kind of defeats the purpose of DHCP. Most people wont have a problem with this - only if they use console tools like nslookup, whois etc.
2. If I keep switching the wireless off and on using the button, after a week a two, the router becomes unstable - losing wireless connections etc. Once it even reset itself to factory defaults. Also the wireless on/off switches on both wireless bands - even when I disabled the 5Ghz band in the configuration.
